Sanford Clark

Sanford Clark (1935-2021), rockabilly and country artist was born in Oklahoma, but moved to Arizona to the growing city of Phoenix early in his life. Sanford Clark was chiefly known for his hit single “The Fool,” written by the still small Lee Hazelwood, with guitar work from a young Al Casey. The single would break the top 10 of the nationwide charts and total over 750,000 copies sold. Jim West, cites this single as the birth of the local Phoenix music scene. Sanford Clark is an inductee to the Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame.
